The pelton turbine is a hydraulic prime mover in which the center line of the working jet is tangent to the pitch circle of the runner, and the runner blades are composed of a series of double bowl-shaped buckets. According to the layout of the main shaft, it is divided into two types: horizontal shaft and vertical shaft. No matter which type, the runner is always in the atmosphere. This type of turbine is suitable for high-head, small-flow hydropower stations; large bucket-type turbines have a head of about 300-1700m, and small ones can reach 40-250m. At present, the world’s power stations with a water head higher than 1000m all use bucket-type turbines, a single unit The power can reach more than 400MW. Cutter turbine is currently the most widely used type of pelton turbine.
